Airship Docking Tower (Fall 2007)

In this project, we are asked to design an airship docking tower that includes a loading platform (at least 120ft off the ground) and a separate waiting area. The structure must resist wind force and the weight of the blimp (represented by weights), but the actual model cannot weigh over seven pounds (while it must fail between 50 and 100 pounds). The only materials allowed are wood members and string, while all parts must be connected via pin connections. Through this project, we have gained a better understanding of different types of bracing systems.
